Mental illness can seriously disrupt a young person’s life, throwing their career and future off track. These young people not only have to manage their illness and recovery, but they also face an enormous battle with stigma. Particularly when looking for a job.

Recent research conducted by OYH has shown that those young people who find employment after leaving the OYH program are less likely to relapse, have greater self esteem, and have a better quality of life.

Finding a job is the key to a brighter future for OYH young people, but finding an understanding and considerate employer can be difficult.
